Have you ever heard about digital psychology? Or have you ever thought that everything you see in a digital world(internet) are made to impact your mind and emotions?

Well, probably these words can make you confused and anxious at the same time, but I am here to tell you everything about digital psychology and explain how things on internet make us do things we never think about.

To connect and engage with an audience, digital marketing requires smart thinking and persistence.

Creating a targeted emotional appeal can indeed be something you’d need to do to gain a long-term subscriber. To strategize for marketing campaigns to increase market presence and profits, marketers must first understand how consumers think and feel.

Gaining someone’s trust or providing convincing logic is one of the most effective strategies to encourage someone to take action. Storytelling, imagination, intuition, and other qualities connected with the right side of the brain are frequently used in effective marketing.

People actually enjoy reading things that they connect with. This offers a chance for advertisers to find a middle ground with their audience and, as a result, improve the appeal of their material.

What are some examples of digital or web psychology?

Understanding how and why people think and act in specific ways is a crucial part of successful promotion.

Studying the human thinking or how to use simple cognitive strategies is essential for successful advertising and branding.

Let’s forget about digital world for a second and imagine an actual structure. In this example let it be a physical shop. Did you ever notice that when you enter a shop which sells electronics, you have to go all the way to the back of the shop to grab the item that brought you there? Or why headphones are placed so close to TVs and PCs, and laptops, cameras, and small table lamps are always placed near one another? Or why “Buy one, get one free” tags are placed all over certain items. It’s all in the grand scheme of things.

As I explained you the physical example of marketing psychology, we can turn this example into digital reality. Let’s say, you are thinking of driving out of city to have a picnic on the mountain/in nature. Well, we can assume that your plan is going to the market, grabbing some foods and drinks and going for a picnic. As you are looking for some good ideas or reviews about where you can have a nice picnic, your search will somewhat look like this “Nice picnic places near me”. And there is a really big chance that your plans are going to be changed during your search. For the results of your search you will get all advertisements and organically promoted places that are created just for your search. And while you are crawling between websites and reviews of the places, there is going to be that one and only answer to your question: the website, the colors of advertisement, pictures of outside or inside sitting area, the menu design, the text – they are going to impact your mind. Yep, that can be a nice place a bit far from your place, surrounded with beautiful trees, sitting area may have an outside balcony facing mountains and yes, they have affordable menu and will cancel your shopping plans as well.

So what is web psychology?

Advertising psychology is a field of applied psychology that investigates the elements that influence how people feel about products and services.

The design and performance of an advertising campaign is heavily influenced by psychology. Ads can be developed to elicit specific feelings and reactions, ultimately influencing on desirable user behavior, by utilizing basic psychological principles.

Campaigns can be tailored to certain geographic or sociodemographic groups, increasing brand memory, awareness, and loyalty.

People rely on others to see what people believe is good in order to determine what is correct.

Another example is judging and getting ideas by reading reviews on products, places and even comments on people’s social profiles’ to get an idea of the role they play among their audience or clients. As  your brain thinks that people can know more about the situation, you start watching others do something and interpret it as correct principles or standards.

Learning why and how people respond to situations in specific ways is a crucial part of successful marketing. This is referred to as social evidence in marketing psychology.
